The canopy bed was manufactured in Marrakech, the chairs and table originate from Damascus (Syria). The room can be cooled or heated by air conditioning and if you are in a romantic mood the fire place will do the rest. Your bathroom has mosaic from the city of Fez (the third biggest Moroccan city after Casablanca and Marrakech) on the floor and a bath coated with Moroccan tadelakt (traditional soapstone). Marrakech, Fez, Rabat and Meknes (the smallest city) are the four royal cities of Morocco. This ‘rivalry’ worked out well for the architecture, arts and culture in the city of Meknes and is translated to this room.

Traditional Moroccan house and interior

A traditional Moroccan house has hardly any windows towards the street. This ads to the serenity in our vacation house. Once you’ve entered through the large cedar wooden gates, you can leave the excitement of the city behind you. But you may hear the friendly noise of the fountain or the birds in the courtyards. All rooms have doors or windows towards these courtyards.

The house is solidly built and restored with lots of local ornaments, iron work, turned wood, mosaic, marble and the very special tadelakt (limestone) walls and floors. All lamps were handmade, just like the copper hammered sinks in the bathrooms: all custom made by masters in their arts.

All furniture and antiques are authentic and of Arabian origin, this makes the house less suitable for children.
