About Marrakech
Marrakech City Marrakech has about 700.000 – 1.000.000 inhabitants, but no tall buildings. The Medina, the old city center inside the red mud walls (Unesco heritage) has for many decades been a secret destination for the Parisian elites (Maurice Ravel, Yves St. Laurent and many others). They discovered the splendour of the merchant houses often in a state of deteriation as the Moroccan culture did not give a high priority to renovation or restauration. After selling their house or riad to French or Italian tourists, the former owners bought themselves a mansion in the suburbs and the foreigners started to transform the old houses in city palaces. This is exactly how Riad Trois Cours came to its present splendour.
